Creating a model of a hard surface can be a challenging yet rewarding task, especially when designing intricate and detailed chess pawns, Queen, and King inspired by the British Monarchy. In order to achieve a realistic and aesthetically pleasing look, I began by researching the key design elements of the British Monarchy, such as its emblem, colors, and symbols.
Level 9
With this information in mind, I used 3D modeling software to create a digital representation of the chess pieces. Starting with the pawns, I first created a basic shape and then added details such as the intricate designs and the emblem of the British Monarchy on the head of each pawn. I paid close attention to the proportion and symmetry of each piece to ensure that they were visually appealing and accurately represented the theme.
Next, I moved onto designing the Queen and King chess pieces. These pieces needed to be more elaborate and detailed than the pawns to accurately capture the grandeur of the British Monarchy. I used the same techniques as with the pawns, starting with a basic shape and then adding intricate designs and details to represent the regal nature of the pieces. The King's crown and the Queen's dress were especially important to capture their status as leaders of the chessboard.
Completing all nine levels in Blender was a difficult task, and the King Chess level was particularly challenging. While observing the creator, Grant Abbitt, work with the cylinder, I noticed that he didn't provide a direct demonstration, which made it difficult for me to create my own version on Level 9. The gap in the lines before adding the first chess piece was also problematic, as my lines were much closer together compared to Abbitt's. That said, I have managed to press CTRL+R on my keyboard and use my mouse to make sure that both ending sides of the Christian Cross symbol get correctly squared.
Throughout the modeling process, I made sure to frequently save my work in two files, Level9 and Level9.5, with the latter being a backup in case I encountered any issues with the former. I also made sure to regularly test my models in a virtual chessboard environment to ensure that they were accurately sized and visually appealing
In conclusion, modeling the hard surface of these creative chess pawns, Queen, and King inspired by the British Monarchy was a challenging yet fulfilling experience. By paying close attention to the key design elements of the British Monarchy, I was able to create visually stunning and accurate models. The Level9 and Level9.5 files serve as a testament to my dedication to the project and my attention to detail throughout the modeling process.
